Lame airport hoax needs to be grounded

We are just a few days away from the 11th anniversary of one of our nation’s darkest days.

With that in mind, with our national consciousness still rubbed raw, you would think we are beyond joking about air safety.

You would be wrong.

It’s a little hard to completely understand what happened yesterday morning at Philadelphia International Airport.

You can read the full story here.

Bottom line? This was apparently some kind of a sick hoax. And it may have involved some kind of soap opera angle involving a spurned ex.

Authorities received a call that a man had boarded a US Airways flight to Dallas with some kind of explosives. The flight, which was out near Harrisburg, was ordered back to Philly. Federal agents stormed the planed when it landed and took the man into custody.

You can only imagine his reaction when he learned he was the reason for all this - since he was totally unaware that any of this was going down.

He was apparently the victim of a prank hoax call, which may have come from a jilted ex.

Hilarious, huh?

Eventually, those who were on the flight were sent on their way, including the man who was the victim of the hoax. Ironically, he was picked up when he got to Dallas on some outstanding warrants on drug charges.

Today we are expecting to learn more about the person who made the call. We only want to know one thing. That they are throwing the book at this knucklehead, filing serious charges against him or her.

This kind of stunt stopped being funny 11 years ago. Let’s use this lame prank as a way to remind people of just that.
