Train whistle means life returning to normal

I just heard a sure sign that things are returning to normal in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

A train whistle.

Yes, SEPTA’s regional rail lines are rumbling to life once again. Our plant in Primos is located directly next to the Media-Elwyn line and the trains are up and running this morning. Transit officials, however, are cautioning that riders should expect delays as the system returns to service.

SEPTA started service on most of its subway, bus and trolley lines yesterday at noon. The Market-Frankford El, which ferries tons of suburban commuters into the city from 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby, also is back up and running.

And, sorry kids, most Delaware County schools are open for business again today after being closed for two days.

Happy Halloween.

One thing we have not been able to get a feel for is whether or not Delco towns are making any changes in their Trick-or-Treat plans. Post a comment on this blog or email me at editor@delcotimes.com.
