Welcome to Sandy Central.
My idea for the next few days is to turn the blog over to a quick information center for folks battling the elements as the monster storm Hurricane Sandy bears down on the area.

5 a.m.: First things first. Evacuation notices are starting to come in. Darby Borough indicated they will order people out of low-lyign areas of the borough, which is usually one of the first trouble spots when it comes to water and flooding from Darby Creek. Chester City also is ordering residents to evacuate some areas of the city. Officials have ordered all residents out of the following streets:
1400 block of Kerlin Street;
1300 block of Parker Street;
600 block of West 13th Street
600 block of West 14th Street.
The city says residents can take shelter at Showalter School, 10th and Lloyd Streets, starting at 90 a.m.
