Who says the Phillies didn’t make the playoffs?
First it was Raul Ibanez playing the hero, pinch-hitting for Alex Rodriguez and smacking a homer in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game against the Orioles Wednesday night. He wasn’t done. Raul then won it with a walk-off homer in the 12th.
Last night the parade of ex-Phils turned heroes continued in D.C.
Remember our old pal Jayson Werth. He left to sign for millions with the Nationals. Yesterday afternoon he showed them why.
Werth hit a walk-off home run to keep the Nats’ alive in their series against the Cardinals.
On the other hand, pity poor Scott Rolen. After he made a tough error to cost the Reds one game in their NLDS with the Giants, yesterday he made the last out night of the season as the Reds bowed out.
Maybe tonight it will be Gio Gonzales’ turn. If you don’t remember him he was on the Phils’ staff. He will take the hill tonight as the Nationals try to advance to the NLCS.
