A lot on the line for Reid, Foles

All eyes will be on a rookie quarterback when the Eagles and Redskins do battle Sunday in the nation’s capital.

And for Eagles fans, that does not mean ‘Skins rookie Robert Griffin III.

It appears as if Andy Reid is going to make his last stand with Nick Foles.

With Michael Vick still trying to shake off the cobwebs from a concussion suffered Sunday against the Cowboys, the embattled Eagles coach will stand behind the less heralded rookie on the field.

It will be Nick Foles vs. RGIII.

If he plays well and the Eagles win, Foles will become a folk hero, having outdueled the top pick in the same draft where stayed on the board until the Eagles snapped him up in the third round.

If he struggles and he loses, with Vick still on the sidelines, all bets are off. You could go to veteran Trent Edwards for some stability, but the future would still be muddled.

Kind of like Reid’s. For a team that sits at 3-6 andf appears to be in a freefall, there’s a lot at stake for Reid on Sunday.

There’s a lot on the line for Foles, too.

It’s his chance to show the world that RGIII was not the only good quarterback to come out of the draft.

After all, he didn’t shatter all those passing marks at Arizona behind an all-freshman offensive line for nothing. He got beat up. But he hung in there.

Should be the perfect experience to play in front of the Eagles struggling offensive line.

It says here he’s up to the task.

Let the Nick Foles era begin.
