Can Delco GOP break its presidential drought?

5:30 p.m.: One of the many things we will be keeping a very close eye on here in Delco tonight is a peculiar anomaly that has developed in the county when it comes to presidential voting. That is that the county has gone decidedly blue when it comes to voting for a commander in chief. In fact, Delaware County, despite the vaunted local GOP, has not gone for a Republican presidential nominee since 1992 and George H.W. Bush, father of George W. Since then Delco voters have backed Bill Clinton twice, Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. It's be part of a Democratic surge in the Philly surburbs. Only Chester County has remained lockstep when it comes to the GOP standard-bearer.

I actually have a source I consider pretty knowledgeable in GOP circles who says Mitt Romney very well may break that streak. It would be huge if he did, and a sure sign that Pennsylvania, once considered solidly in President Obama's corner, is in fact in play again.
