All the Sixers talk about Iggy, not Bynum

What does it tell you that the big news coming from the Sixers opening night was how fans would greet the return of Andre Iguodala?

Yeah, there are a lot of unfamiliar faces on that Sixers roster. They did make a little news after the game, signing point guard Jrue Holiday to a contract extension.

The star of this show was a no-show. That’s because Andrew Bynum, the 7-foot center acquired in the three-team deal that sent Iggy packing, is still on the shelf with a bum knee.

By the way, the Sixers did manage to scratch out a win over the Nuggets last night. It was not a great performance, by either team.

But we will not know much about the Sixers until Bynum gets on the floor. Anything they can pile up in the win column until then is merely a bonus.

The Flyers are on ice; the Sixers remain incomplete without their key big man.

Which brings us back, of course, to the Eagles.

Andy Reid yesterday said Michael Vick will remain his starting QB in Monday night’s prime time affair in New Orleans. They should be playing this game in Waterloo. If things don’t go well, it could mean the end of the Reid era, as well as an admission that Vick is not longer the key to the franchise.

To that end, they have no reason not to do well Monday night. The Saints have one of the worse defenses in the league.

Vick and Reid need to deliver.

If they don’t, you can start the death watch.
