Let's get started, Mr. Kelly

The Super Bowl is over.

The lights are back on. Beyonce has stopped shaking

They’re partying in Baltimore. And, I suppose, in Audubon, N.J., home of Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco.

All of which can mean only one thing.

‘Next year’ has arrived.

Nowhere is that more welcome than here in Iggles-land. Maybe now we can put this miserable final year of the Andy Reid era out of our minds.

The team and its new boss Chip Kelly could help this immensely by moving swiftly to put the rest of his staff in place. For some reason, Kelly was reticent about naming the members of his coaching staff, instead allowing dribs and drabs to leak out. It got kind of absurd down at the Senior Bowl, where several apparent members of Kelly’s staff were wandering around in Eagles garb, but were unable to confirm it they were ‘officially’ part of the team.

Kelly has some big questions on his plate.

First there is the matter of his defensive coordinator. It was widely believed that Kelly was waiting until after the Super Bowl in order to talk to someone on the staffs of either the Ravens or 49ers.

The Eagles also must make a decision on quarterback Michael Vick. It now appears the team may actually have more leeway in terms of the timetable with Vick than initially thought. The team could actually retain Vick - at least for now - and only be on the hook for $3 million. And if Vick eventually signs with another team, that team would have to pick up the tab for Vick’s services.

Times’ a wasting, Chip.

That’s one other thing you might have to understand about the Eagles. There is no off-season. The Eagles season lasts 365 days a year.

The Super Bowl is over. We’d like to get back there some day. Let’s get started.
