Mamas, let your babies grow up to be QBs

Joe Flacco cashes in

Some one once said timing is everything.
Don’t believe it? Ask Joe Flacco.
You know him. He’s the South Jersey kid who starred at the University of Delaware and then established himself as a star in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens. Flacco seemed to have it all, size, a huge arm and the savvy to be the prototype NFL signal caller. But there was always this nagging thought that he just wasn’t that good, in particular in big games.
Flacco answered all those critics this year in leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl title.

Talk about good timing. Flacco also happened to be a free agent. Yesterday he cashed in. Big time.
Flacco signed a new, $120 million deal with the Ravens that includes a $29 million signing bonus, and $52 in guaranteed money.
Don’t think he’s worth it? Aside from the fact that you can argue if anyone should be paid that kind of money to play football, Flacco is the only quarterback in NFL history to lead a team to the playoffs in each of his first five years. He’s won nine playoff games, tying Tom Brady for the most post-season wins by a QB in his first five years. In the Ravens’ playoff run to the Lombardi Trophy this year, Flacco threw 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
Pretty impressive.
Clearly, Flacco is not just another ordinary Joe.
Still, a $29 million signing bonus? $52 million guaranteed?
Mamas, pray that your babies grow up to be quarterbacks, not cowboys.
