All eyes on Halladay

I understand why Major League Baseball does it. I still don't like it.

After a very entertaining opener on Monday night (or at least as entertaining as a loss can get for the Phillies Phaithful!) the two teams sat on their hands on Tuesday.

That's right. No game. An off-day. The league does it in most of its outside venues as a fail-safe in case of rain or even snow on Opening Day.

All it's done for the Phillies Nation is give us another 24 hours to stew in that loss.

And wonder which Roy Halladay will show up tonight when the two teams meet again in Hot-Lanta.

It has been one of the biggest questions hanging over the Phils all spring. Which Roy Halladay will they get this year, the ace who has carried this team the past few years, or the guy who had to be shut down last year? Halladay had a bit of an up and down spring training, but the general  consensus is that with his velocity still down, he will have to find another way to get batters out as opposed to just overpowering them.

It is only Game 2 of 162. But tonight will tell us much about this Phillies season. They need a solid outing from Roy Halladay. If he gets lit up and the team falls to 0-2, there will be some early dark clouds forming around this team.

Here's what beat writer Dennis Deitch thinks about Halladay.
