The doubters have gone silent.
Dom Brown heard them all. Brown was supposed to be the "next one." He was the prize of the Phillies minor league system. One of the so-called 'Untouchables' when it comes to trade talks. Now we know why.
But his express ticket to stardom in the Phillies outfield took a few detours. He was on the Phillies usual yo-yo with young players with potential, a reluctance to bring them up, then juggling them back and forth between 'The Show' and the minors.
Then came the tinkering with his batting stance. Anyone remember last year when Brown held his hands high over his shoulder?
Now, Brown is wiping away all those memories. And the doubts.
Last night Brown clouted two more homers to provide the offensive punch as the Phils took their second straight against the Red Sox, this time back in South Philly at Citizens Bank Park.
Dennis Deitch has all the details on the game.
Brown is hotter than the weather. His two dingers last night were his fourth in three nights. He leads the team with 13, including an NL-high 10 in May.
The only thing left to ponder is how long it will take to move Brown up in the batting order, maybe into the third or fourth slot.
Dom Brown has arrived. In this case, silence - of the doubters - is golden.
