Not exactly King Cole

Cole Hamels might consider suing his Phillies mates for lack of support.

These days Hamels needs to be almost perfect to get the win.

Thursday night he strode to the mound against Arizona, the weight of that big-bucks contract likely getting heavier with every step he takes. Hamels once again was good, just not good enough.

He gave up just two runs on six hits. But he again had control problems, giving up five walks.

Unfortunately for him, the Phils' anemic offense managed just one run.

The Phils and Hamels lost, 2-1. You can read the full story here.

Hamels now is sporting a 1-5 mark. He didn't help himself with some sloppy play, something that is becoming the trademark of this team.

John Mayberry failed to advance on a bloop single with the bases loaded and got forced out at second. It might have cost the Phils a chance at a big inning.

The loss means the Phils have now slid back to four games under .500. Something has to change on this team. Here's a guess: It probably won't be the players.

Roy Halladay will undergo surgery on his ailing right shoulder next Wednesday in Los Angeles. It might not be the only thing going under the knife on this team.
