Firm of Hamels & Brown pull Phils to .500 mark

.500.

It's the ultimate level of mediocrity. But for now the Phillies will take it. It took them 60 games to get there.

The Phillies now sit at 30-30 after beating the Miami Marlins 6-1 for their fourth straight win yesterday. Hard-luck Cole Hamels finally got a little support in picking up his second win against nine losses. Dom Brown stayed hot, hitting his 18th home run.

There was good news all over the place. Before the game, Roy Halladay said his surgically repaired right shoulder feels better than it has in two or three years and he fully expects to pitch again this summer.

Now if only the Phils could keep on playing the Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers. Actually, they will do just that, heading out for a three-game set in Milwaukee tongiht, kicking off a three-town road trip.

Jack McCaffery says the glass is starting to look half-full for the Phils. You have to hope so.
