Micozzie stands firm in firing of 2 Upper Darby officers

Give Upper Darby Mayor Tom Micozzie this - he's not running away from the controversy involving his decision to terminate two officers.

Micozzie this week briefed the township council about the situation and denied claims by some that there was a 'rush to judgment' involving the two veteran cops caught on the police station videotape in some type of altercation with a teen suspect.

You can get all the details here.

The local FOP Lodge has said they will challenge the move to terminate the officers.

Now the ball is in the hands of the county District Attorney Jack Whelan, who is reviewing the case.

"The investigation is ongoing by the Special Prosecution Unit," said Emily Harris, spokesperson for the D.A.'s office. "All evidence pertaining to the case, includign the video, is under review."

If you're wondering why you have not yet seen that video, it's because it has not yet been released. We know, we've asked.

Stay tuned.
