This time, Chitwood not embracing limelight

There's not a lot of gray area when it comes to Mike Chitwood.

The Upper Darby top cop known to many as "Media Mike" shoots from the lip. In the process he rubs some folks the wrong way.

But Chitwood has been somewhat muffled when it comes to an investigation that led to the termination of two township police officers. I explain in this week's print column.

This man has single handedly destroyed the township by his reports of horrors in the township that like you said most inter ring towns are going through. Perception is reality and Mr. Chitwood had made it foolish for any new white couple to even consider moving into the township and many that are residence to consider moving out. It seemed to never have resonated with the township fathers that this is what is happening. As for how his men feel about him I can tell you with the exception of very very few of his men they see him for the P.T. Barnum that he is. He is not an Upper Darby person, never was and doesn't care a lick about what is happening or will happen when he is gone. It is a shame that the damage by this man and his one man champagne of sensationalism has already been done. Now it is us residence that are left in his wake of destruction to survive in what is left.
