50 years after the dream, where do we stand?

We spent much of this weekend mulling the legacy of the March on Washington from 50 years ago and the status of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'dream.'

We sent reporter Kathleen Carey along with a busload of Delaware County residents. You can see her reports here.

Last week I talked about a meeting I had with a group of Chester residents who were looking for stories that showed the city in a more positive light. It went so well that I invited them onto my Wednesday night 'Live From the Newsroom' show. Of course, all of that was before two more shootings in the city left three people dead and a fourth wounded.

I explain in today's print column.

Here's a suggestion. Do you want to know just how far we've come in terms of race relations in the last half-century, with the stirring words of Dr. King still reverberating around Washington, D.C.?

Try this. Go to any story on DelcoTimes.com that invovles the city of Chester. For that matter, wait an hour or two and go to the bottom of this blog. Check out the comments posted by readers. How far have really come? Obviously, a long way. And still so far to go.
