It remains the bane of every home owner in Pennsylvania.
That, of course, would be the method Pennsylvania uses to pay the bulk of the education tab in this state.
In other words, property taxes.
Once again, an effort to fix what is clearly a broken system is gaining steam in Harrisburg. We focused on the issue again on Sunday.
Tonight, our live-stream Internet broadcast, 'Live From the Newsroom,' will again focus on this crucial issue in Pennsylvania.
We'll be joined by representatives from several tax groups who are working to change the system.
John Bartholomeo and Cynthia Sabatini are members of Rose Tree Media Taxpayers United. John Ianotti is a member of the Delaware County Taxpayers Coalition.
Perhaps no one in the Pennsylvania Legislature knows the inequities of the system better than state Rep. Nick Micozzie, R-163, of Upper Darby. He once offered a "Successful Schools" plan that would replace the property tax in exchange for hikes in the state sales and income taxes. It went nowhere in Harrisburg. Not even Micozzie's GOP brethren in the Delco delegation would support the move.
We'll be talking property taxes tonight at 7. Why not join the conversation? Do you have a question about property taxes you'd like to see answered? Email it to me at editor@delcotimes.com and I'll put it to our panel. Then tune in to DelcoTimes.com tonight at 7 and take part in a live chat along with the show.
It's one of the biggest issues in Delaware County and the state. And we'll be all over it tonight on 'Live From the Newsroom.'
