More unwanted problems at Penn Wood High

If you know Diane Leahan, you know she doesn't mince words. That's one of the reasons I like her.

She didn't disappoint when we contacted her about the latest vandalism to hit Penn Wood High. The William Penn School Board member was blunt:

"What the hell is going on?"

It's a good question. I don't envy her and her fellow board members in William Penn. They face an almost impossible job.

The last thing they need is something they have to spend all too much time dealing with - mindless vandalism.

Last spring it was bomb threats and an arson fire that forced them to close the Green Avenue high school. Now, just days before their opener, the football team is dealing with knuckleheads who broke into a storage shed and stole about $10,000 in equipment. A lot of the high school's band instruments also were  ripped off.

Sometimes you just shake your head.

Here's our editorial on the issue.
