No way to avoid it, summer is over

I guess there is way to avoid it.

I have to face up to the three words I hate maybe more than any others, at least when they are used together.

'Summer is over.'

Yes, I know the calendar tells us Fall does not arrived until Sept. 22. But to me, summer is a state of mind. And there is just something different about the way I feel after Labor Day.

Kids are back in school. Football is kicking off. The Phillies are missing the playoffs.

Perhaps I'm feeling it more acutely this year because, let's face it, it's been a pretty miserable summer.
