Some ruffled feathers for Birds

For some reason, I don't think this is what Chip Kelly had in mind when he thinks about the Eagles' fighting spirit.

Wide receiver Riley Cooper was back in the news yesterday. You may remember Cooper, forced into a starting role with the injury to Jeremy Maclin, exploded into national headlines with a racial outburst that was captured on video and posted on the Internet.

After that crisis died down, Cooper was pretty much flying under the radar. Until yesterday.

Beat writer Bob Grotz has all the details and the video.

Cooper mixed it up with defensive back Cary Williams after they got tangled up in a drill. There was some pushing and shoving and it appeared as if Williams may have thrown a punch.

Interestingly enough, Williams is one of the Eagles who spoke up after the racial incident, making it pretty clear he had an issue with what Cooper had said. And during the scuffle yesterday, he again brought up the issue of race, allegedly mouthing something to the extent that he's the one person (although he didn't use that nice a word) Cooper doesn't want to mess with.

Afterward Williams wasn't talking about it.

Cooper said it was just football and no big deal. He stressed it didn't have anything to do with the previous incident.

I hope he's right.
