Yo, guv, check out those Delco job numbers

Welcome back from your vacation, Gov. Corbett. How was South Carolina?

Yes, the governor of Pennsylvania vacationed in South Carolina. I can't say I blame him. He and his wife own a vacation home there after all. That's what it's for. And the golf is pretty sweet down there.

Pay no attention to all those quibbling with the fact that the chief executive of the Keystone Stone did not vacation here. If anyone questions you, you can whip out those nifty pictures of one of your kayaking trips down those scenic Pennsylvania rivers.

But seriously, governor, you could use a little good news. Have you seen your poll numbers? They're in the toilet. Forget the Democrats. You've got people in your own party wondering if you should be sent back for a second term. Of course, that would give you a lot more time to spend in South Carolina.

But if you don't particularly like the idea of being a one-term governor, here's a little unsolicited tip.

Come to Delco.

Did you by any chance see our Labor Day story on the jobs picture in the state? The Keystone Research Center paints a pretty gloomy picture of what is happening in Pennsylvania. But here in Delco, we're actually bucking the trend.

Delaware County ranks as the 10th fastest-growing county in the state, and we're doing it without your beloved Marcellus shale in our back yard. Between 2010 and the end of 2012, Delaware County added 6,202 jobs, an increase of 3 percent.

Our white-collar workforce is booming, with an increase of 16 percent in professional business services, which includes accountants, architects and other jobs that are highly skilled and require advanced education.

We also saw a jump of 8 percent in the financial activity sector, and 7.1 percent increase in leisure and hospitality services.

You know where we are, you were just here when you delivered that big check that cleared the way for Delta Air Lines to buy the old BP Refinery in Trainer, It's now up and running as Monroe Energy.

And if you're really looking for a Marcellus shale tie-in, you could visit the old Sunoco refinery in Marcus Hook, where they are still looking to retrofit the facility to take advantge of the gas boom.

Why don't you kick off your re-election campaign here. I can see the slogan now.

Corbett and Delco: Perfect Together.

Dear Phil, the Marcellus Shale is "beloved" to you and your liberal friends, when you want to tax it. And it seems, you are as incapable of editing your own blog as the you are the DT. Hint: Keystone "State", not Keystone "Stone"
