'Live From the Newsroom' talks about violence, the media & Chester

I notice there was another shooting in Chester Tuesday night. A teen suffered gunshot wounds to the legs after gunfire erupted at Ninth and Hyatt streets.

It comes after Mayor John Linder rolled out a new policing program aimed at stopping gun violence in the city.

It's been talked about for a long time - Chester and violence. Is the city safe? Is the image many people in the county have of the city unfounded? Is that image pushed by the media, including the Daily Times?

We'll use our live-stream Internet broadcast, 'Live From the Newsroom,' tonight to talk about Chester. Here's who will be on hand for the show:

* Mayor John Linder.

* Community activist Joe Kane, who has run mentoring and tutoring programs in Chester Upland schools. * Chester City Blogger Stefan Roots.

* Bryan Miller, who used to be with CeaseFirePa and is now involved in a new program starting up in Chester called Heeding God's Call, a faith-based and grassroots movement to prevent gun violence.

* Kenny Covert a community activist. But I don't want to limit it to that group. If you have a question for our panel, email it to me at editor@delcotimes.com.

Then tune in tonight at DelcoTimes.com and take part in a live chat during the show.

Join the conversation. Be a part of the solution.

Talk to you tonight.
