There's probably a few people around Delaware County who would not be surprised to learn I am the 'Voice of God."
They are the ones who take us to task every day for our editorial stance. They are the ones who chime in on the online conversation, ripping us for our 'Leftist,' 'Commie' positions.
But there is another reason will be making like the voice of God on Friday and Saturday. I actually will be the voice of God. At least as far as the Media Theatre is concerned.
As part of their current show, 'Spamalot,' the folks at Delaware County's premiere professional theater organization have been inviting local "celebrities" to take up the narrator's role of the Voice of God.
Friday and Saturday night it's my turn, although I would argue I'm not exactly a celebrity.
However, I do have some big shoes to fill. And I'm not just talking about intoning the Almighty.
Setting the pace for me have been WMGK radio personality Debbi Calton, comedian and sports radio host Big Daddy Graham, and man about Media Jeff Cadorette, among others.
If you happen to be in Media or at the show Friday or Saturday night, by all means say hello.
My wife will never quite get over it.
Now I can tell her she's arguing with the Voice of God.
As Joe Frazier once famously quipped to Muhammad Ali before one of their big fights, with the brash Ali boasting that Frazer was getting in the ring with God.
"God, you in the wrong place tonight."
Hopefully they won't be saying that about me as the voice of God Friday and Saturday night.
I'll try not to break a leg.
