The Flyers are managing to do something I did not think was possible.
They are getting people interested in the Sixers.
Hey, we need something around these parts in between our weekly bouts of Eagles mania.
Last night the Flyers Phutility reached new lows. There's no shame in getting shut out by Martin Brodeur. After all, he's now managed that feat an astounding 122 times in his fabulous NHL career.
But the Flyers only 22 shots on goal.
Forget offense, this team is just plain offensive. They're now 4-10 and sits deservedly at the bottom of the Metro group in the Eastern Conference.
And yet the place was still packed last night.
You've got to think this is heading toward another eruption from a team that has never been afraid to make moves. Owner Ed Snider has always been up front about his philosophy, it's always been about winning. This team is not doing that, or even coming close. At this point, they're not even competing. This likely will not end well.
Check out Rob Parent's take on last night's game.
Speaking of eruptions, keep your ears pealed for a roar coming from the vicinity of the Wells Fargo Center tonight.
That's because Andrew Bynum is in town. No, he's not bowling. But he will do something he did not do one time last year during his ill-fated season with the Sixers.
He will actually take the floor - for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His reception should cement his spot as one of the most reviled athletes to ever come through Philly.
My question is this: How many people will actually be in the house? Would you buy a ticket just for the opportunity to boo Bynum.
We're about to find out.
