Every year since I became editor of the Daily Times back in 1999 (time flies when you're having fun, no?) I have rerun the Christmas column I wrote for my mother as she first slipped into the ravages of Alzheimer's and dementia.
It always takes me back to another time, a simpler time, when home and family meant everything.
I'm always amazed at the reaction that single column evokes in readers. I start getting calls and emails from readers just after Thanksgiving asking when I'm going to run my 'Christmas column' again.
It will run every Christmas so long as I'm still here.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all from the Heron's Nest.
Here it is.
