Birds will already know their fate Sunday night

There is a weird twist connected to that epic meltdown by the Cowboys and Tony Romo on Sunday, in which they blew a double-digit second half lead. And, of course, it directly involves the Birds.

The Eagles will know exactly where they stand when they take the field at the Linc Sunday night in a prime time affair vs. the Bears.

That's because the Cowboys play the Redskins at 1. If the Cowboys win that game, it does not matter what the Eagles do Sunday night. Win or lose, they still will have to beat the Cowboys in Dallas the following Sunday in a winner-take-all extravaganza for the NFC East and a spot in the playoffs.

If the Cowboys should come up short once again, the Eagles will know that if they can put away 'Da Bears' they will win the NFC East and that final game in Dallas will be made meaningless.

I'm interested to see how rookie head coach Chip Kelly will handle it if the Cowboys win, making the Eagles-Bears game pretty much a scrimmage for the Birds. Yesterday he said he would still play his regulars in the prime time affair. Can you imagine the outcry if LeSean McCoy is injured? I don't envy the position Kelly will find himself in should Dallas lose.

And here's an early hint: I actually think both the Cowboys and Eagles are going to lose Sunday, setting up a true battle for the NFC Least in the season finale.
