Here is the question of the day: Do you trust the forecast?
Unless you've just returned from a vacation in Aruba (and if you did you picked the wrong week to come back!) you know we're expecting another early winter storm today.
The question is when, and how much are we going to get.
I don't have Doppler, or "double-scan" radar. But even I will admit it "feels" like snow out there today.
Most of the forecasts are calling for anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow across the Philadelphia region today. And once again it appears as if the storm will roll right up the I-95 corridor.
The problem, however, reminds me of the old saw about a boy crying wolf. We get this kind of hype almost non-stop from the local TV outlets during winter.
Then on Sunday, we got just the opposite. Everyone was predicting a light dusting of snow to arrive mid-afternoon, quickly changing over to rain.
Instead, we got rocked by as much as 8 inches of snow, starting just before noon. People who ventured out to church or shopping got caught unprepared. Roads soon became parking lots. PennDOT was at a disadvantage because, although the streets were brined, they couldn't get their plows out to do much because the roads were clogged with cars.
Most schools across the region are erring on the side of caution today, closing in advance of the storm.
Right now, at 6:15 a.m., I am hearing from my trust TV types that snow is spreading east, now starting to fall in Lancaster County.
Oh, and one other thing: Have I mentioned lately how much I hate winter?
Be safe out there today.
