Not exactly a Thursday night classic from the NFL

Somehow I don't think this is what the NFL or the NFL Network had in mind.

For their showcase Thursday night matchup, the league that lives on TV gives this thrilling matchup: the 2-10 Houston Texans vs. the 3-9 Jacksonville Jaguars.

Guess they are not flexing games on Thursday night.

Hey, I'm not complaining. We're seeing a steady diet of 1 p.m. Sunday games for the Eagles, and I could not be happier.

When the Eagles go prime time, for most fans it means confirmation that their team has 'arrived' and is considered worthy of the national spotlight.

But for newspaper people, those games create incredible headaches.

So why do I get the feeling that if the Eagles win on Sunday, and continue to bear down on a playoff spot, they will be seeing some of those games flexed at least to the 4 o'clock national slot, or maybe even the Sunday night game.

And if that final game of the year, on the Sunday after Christmas, against the Cowboys in Dallas? If that is a winner-take-all tussle for the NFC East crown, I think you can count on that one going prime time.

The NFL isn't dumb, despite what they are offering fans tonight.
