It's almost hard to imagine what authorities allege was going down on Lincoln Avenue in Collingdale.
Most towns struggle with drug issues. Not many have to fend off the kind of turf war that was the scourge of Collingdale.
District Attorney Jack Whelan, in detailing 'Operation My Block' and the arrest of 17 alleged drug dealers in the early morning hours on Thursday, described what amounted to a drug feud between two rival gangs, with a neighborhood caught in the middle.
One man in the neighborhood described an incident earlier in the week where stray bullets hit his house.
"These neighborhoods will certainly be much safer and residents that had to put up with the nonsense and had to tolerate the drug dealing, some of the violence that was occurring will sleep better at night knowing that these individuals are behind bars and will remain behind bars for the foreseeable future.," Whelan said at a press conference.
Amen to that.
