A class act from a family in mourning

I never met Richard Patterson, but I think I would have liked him.

Patterson is the gentleman who was tragically struck and killed while returning home with his dog, who had gotten lose, on Providence Road in Upper Darby last week.

The spot where Patterson was struck is just down the road from our office here in Primos.

It turns out that Patterson got his beloved pooch, Baby, at the Delaware County SPCA.

It's obvious the dog gave Patterson and his family great joy. Now, even in their sorrow, they have decided to give back.

The Patterson family is asking people to make donations to the SPCA in memory of Richard and Baby. The details are in today's Cop Shop.

That's a class move by the family. No doubt it emulates from the man who was taken away from them much too soon.
