A very tough weekend

Somedays you wonder why you ever wanted to get into this racket.

This morning is one of those mornings.

Which is one way of saying it was a very tough weekend in Delaware County.

We saw our first homicide, which was quickly joined by the second, when a thief picked the wrong victim in Chester. You can get those details here. The victim had a license to carry and turned the tables on his attacker, fatally shooting him.

Meanwhile, in Collingdale, police are investigating a double shooting that took place in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts.

Down in Marcus Hook, two people were hurt when a car collided with a Contrail train.

If that was not enough carnage for you, there was heartbreak on the Main Line, where a domestic incident is believed to have ended in a murder suicide.

Police believe a man shot and killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself.

If that's not sad enough, they leave behind three young children. The sad news continued overnight.

In Clifton Heights, a crash on Baltimore Pike sent a car careening onto the sidewalk, slamming into a group of teens.

A popular athlete and Upper Darby High grad was killed. A second teen is hospitalized in serious condition. Amazingly, a third teen in the group was not injured.

Teens could be seen wiping away tears as they gathered in a vigil outside Delaware County Memorial Hospital last night.

As I said, some mornings you wonder why anyone would want to go into this business.
