DeSean wants Eagles to show him the money

Leave it to DeSean Jackson to put a little different perspective on things as the Eagles gathered to say their goodbyes after their crushing last-second loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Chip Kelly said that he's already put the loss behind him and is now looking to the future.

Nick Foles said he can't wait to get back to work, and how much he loves this situation, this team and this city.

Most of the Eagles expressed disappointment in the loss while noting how far the team has come in this most unexpected first season of the Chip Kelly era.

DeSean? He wants more money.

That's right. The Eagles star wide receiver yesterday indicated he will be looking to redo the five-year, $48.2 million deal he signed less than two years ago.

You can catch all the details from our beat reporter Bob Grotz here.

DeSean's problem with the deal is that not all that much of it is guaranteed. Jackson got $15 million guaranteed. His base pay this year paid him $6.75 million, and it jumps to $10.25 million next year.

It sounds like DeSean, who caught 82 passes this year for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns, would like the Eagles to guarantee a little more of the deal. He calls it "security."

It will be most interesting to see how the Eagles respond to this.

Remember it was just two years ago that Jackson admitted that he moped through the season because he was unhappy with his deal.

And the Eagles also have to deal with the futures of wide receivers Riley Cooper and the injured Jeremy Maclin, both of whom are free agents.

It didn't take long for the Eagles off-season to get a lot more interesting.

The Birds can thank DeSean Jackson for that.
