An epic night for the Sixers

There is not much that can get me interested in the Sochi Olympics.

But the Sixers are doing their damnedest to accomplish just that.

I have nothing against the Olympics. I just seem to have lost my appetite for them. Part of it is the knowledge that these are really no longer the best amateur athletes competing for their moment in the spotlight.

Need proof? Just look at the deals some of these skiers have in their back pockets.

Then there's ice hockey. Remember the days of the "Miracle on Ice?" The only miracle involved in these things now is the fact that the NHL would interrupt their season for two and a half weeks so their best players can compete in the Games. And they wonder why so many people consider hockey a niche sport.v Then there are the Sixers.

They have found a niche of their own.

On the bottom.

What they did last night in L.A. against the Clippers is almost hard to believe.

This happens in high school, not the NBA.

How bad were the Sixers?

At one point, they were down 54-17 a few minutes into the second quarter. With 6:01 left in the third quarter, it was 89-33.

The final - as if it makes any difference - was 123-78.

So let's review. The Sixers are the second worst team in the NBA. I know, it's hard to believe anyone has a worse record, but the Bucks do.

The Flyers are now off for more than two weeks.

Get ready for a big dose of Phillies previews.
