Are you ready for Round 2?
Don't shoot the messenger, unless it happens to be a furry rodent named Phil. No, not me. I'm referring to that Punxsutawney chap.
There is no end in sight to the winter of our discontent.
Pummeled with as much as 9 inches of heavy, wet snow and glop on Monday, Round 2 is waiting in the wings and set to arrive tonight.
This morning, lots of schools across Delco are still opening two hours late. You can check on those here.
The guess here is that school is going to be affected tomorrow as well.
That's because another storm is taking dead aim at the Delaware Valley and is expected to hit late tonight and into Wednesday.
Here's what you can expect.
The storm is expcted to arrive after midnight as snow. As usual, the farther west and north you go the more snow you can expect.
In the Philadelphia region, it's looking like 1-3 inches of snow, more like 3-6 in northern and western Chester and Montgomery counties.
Then from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. it turns into a mix of ice and rain before it finally moves over to all rain after 6 a.m. Wednesday. The storm will move out of the area after noon.
The big problem from this storm is likely going to be accumulating ice, which could take down trees and power lines.
For those keeping score, we now have racked up more than 40 inches of snow this winter. Yesterday's official snow total at the airport was 3.5 inches, bringing the winter total to 40.6 inches. In some places in Chester County, as much as 9 inches of snow was recorded Monday.
If all of this was not enough for you, forecasters are still keeping an eye on a third storm due over the weekend. At least at this point they seem to be backing off the snow amounts from that one. Remember, this is the one that was heralded last week on social media as delivering a paralyzing several feet of snow. That does not look like it's going to happen.
In the meantime, keep those shovels and the salt handy.
We're going to need it again Wednesday morning.
