Your Wednesday morning roads report

No, it hasn't started snowing.

Yet.

But I could not help as I drove in this morning wondering just what these roads would like 24 hours from now.

Hell, the roads are already white from all the salt and brine dumped on them by PennDOT.

Here's what you need to know for Wednesday.

No sweat. Either heading into the office this morning or for your evening commute. This storm will not arrive until later tonight.

The biggest danger we face today will be the non-stop assault of news reports - a shortage of salt, grocery stores under siege, PennDOT crews getting ready.

After last week's ice storm that left thousands without power for days, it looks like no one wants to take any chances. Even if they're only homebound for 24 hours, they are stocking up for the storm.

First snow is started to hit around 11 p.m. And it will go downhill from there.

Snow will continue steady through Thursday morning across the region, with likely accumulations around 6 inches.

There is a chance that some areas will see a changeover to rain, but for the most part this is going to be a snow storm.

Another thing to be wary of: This is going to be another dose of heavy, wet snow. That means lots of tree limbs giving way, possibly taking out power lines, and likely more power outages.

There is a mental fatigue that starts to set in when dealing with the kind of non-stop cold and snow we've had this winter. If it seems like each week has brought a new round of storms, it's because it has.

This storm will mark the 11th measurable snow of the season.

Someone please tell me spring is out there somewhere. Right now it's only a rumor.
