It's the talk of Aston

The residents of Aston have no intention of letting go of their concerns about the proposed expansion of the Delaware County Intermedia Unit's tech school campus in their neighborhood.

Neither do we.

We were there Wednesday night when residents attended the IU meeting to ask about the plan that would double the amount of students attending classes at the Aston site, going from 400 to 800. It would consolidate IU services across the county in Aston, including a new home for the alternative school.

Residents are concerned about safety issues, as well as their property values.

IU officials believe the consolidated campus could save them a ton of money.

IU Executive Director Dr. Lawrence O'Shea told the group they were still assessing the comments made by residents. Township officials say no decision is coming anytime soon.

I'm hoping to devote next Wednesday's 'Live From the Newsroom' show to the issue. I am hoping to have residents, IU officials and someone from the township on the show to talk about the history of this project, where it stands now, residents' concerns and where it goes from here.

I'm willing to go to Aston or the IU.

Consider it an open invitation.

We'll see who responds.

I can't wait to see what the law says about buying property and what you can do with it after someone else comes along years later, buys the property next door and builds plastic homes with cheap lick-n-stick stone facade's. Did the folks that purchased those homes not see the school next door?
