Broomall-Newtown has eyes on Babe Ruth prize - another one!

While the Taney Dragons enjoy a parade down Broad Street today, two other local youth baseball teams are winning big - but with much less fanfare.

It's a shame that the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth 13-15 team is competing in their World Series all the way out in Washington state. The time difference means their games end too late to make it into our print edition.

But you can get all the details on their huge win last night here on our website, DelcoTimes.com.

Broomall-Newtown's bats came to life and pounded out 17 hits as they rolled over a team from Longview, Washington. That puts them into the semifinals tonight, just two wins away from a national World Series crown.

If they are able to run the table, they will join the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth 13 team as national champions.

That's right, Broomall-Newtown has already captured one national title and has their eyes on a second.

Make sure you check DelcoTimes.com late tonight for updates as they face Tri-County, Texas, in the semifinals. A win tonight propels them into Thursday's national title game.

Game time here on the East Coast is 8:05 p.m. You can follow live coverage of the game online at www.longviewworldseries.com.

Then on Sunday the community is planning a huge parade and party to welcome the two teams home. You can get all the details on the party here.
