'Live From the Newsroom' tackles the Covanta project in Chester

Tonight on 'Live From the Newsroom' we will tackle one of the hottest issues in the county.

Literally.

The Covanta Company is looking to build two buidlings at their Delaware Valley Resource Recovery Facility on Highland River on the Delaware River in the city. They want to import as much as 500,000 tons of trash a day from New York City.

They insist this is not an expansion of burning in the city.

Some city residents are not convinced.

The land development application for the buildings recently was approved by City Council, much to the chagrin of some of those same residents.

Tonight we'll talk about this burning controversy. We'll be joined by someone who knows the system inside and out. That would be John Waffenschmidt, vice president for Environmental Science and Community Affaris for Covanta.

On the other side of the fence will be Mike Ewall, founder and director of Energy Justice Network, and community activist Shelia Hyland.

If you have a question you'd like to see issed to our panel, email it to me at editor@delcotimescom. Then tune in to DelcoTimes.com tonight at 7 for our live show.
