'Live From the Newsroom' puts the Eagles in the playoffs

Rest easy, Eagles fans.

The Birds are a lock for the playoffs.

I got the word last night from two bona fide experts.

My lead sports columnist Jack McCaffery and local sports talk radio host Billy Werndl from WCHE 1520-AM in West Chester joined me for a special Eagles season preview on our weekly live-stream Internet broadcast, 'Live From the Newsroom.'

Both Jack and Billy believe the Eagles should cruise in a mediocre - or, in Wernd'ls words "Awful" NFC East.

Both think the Birds have a shot at winning a playoff game, but Werndl does not yet believe the Eagles are a true Super Bowl contender. He thinks second-year head coach Chip Kelly needs one more draft and group of free agents to get the Birds in the big game.

We covered a lot of other topics, including the exit of DeSean Jackson, the booting of kicker Alex Henery in favor of untested rookie Cody Parkey, the fact that LeSean McCoy very likely is the best back in the NFL, and whether or not Nick Foles is a franchise QB.

If you missed the show, you can catch the replay here. Our thanks to one of Delco's great local neighborhood taverns, Jimmy Mac's in Drexel Hill, for hosting the show.

And don't forget we'll once again be offering fans the chance to take part in our game-day live chat. You can trade your observations with Jack and beat writer Bob Grotz as they cover the opener at the Linc vs. the Jacksonville Jags at 1 on Sunday.

Of course, before you drop any of your hard-earned cash on an Eagles' wager, you'll want to catch the return of the Dreaded Saturday Eagles Pick here in the Heron's Nest on Saturday morning!
