Comfortably ensconced 15 games out of first place, NOW the Phillies start to resemble the team that Ruben Amaro Jr. and other Phils' brass thought was heading north from Clearwater.
The Phils shut out the Braves for the second straight night, with Kyle Kendrick leading the way in a 4-0 win. Making his Phillies debut was Maikel Franko was a solid one, with a sacrifice fly that drove in a run.
Sorry, fellas, but we've turned the calender.
It's football season. Specifically, Eagles season.
We'll kick off the season tonight with a special Eagles preview 'Live From the Newsroom' at 7. We'll be at one of our favorite spots, Jimmy Mac's, at Burmone and Marshall roads in Drexel Hill.
I'll be joined by our Eagles beat writer Bob Grotz, lead sports columnist Jack McCaffery and local sports talk radio personality Billy Werndl from WCHE 1520-AM in West Chester.
How will the Birds fare in Year Two of the Chip Kelly Era? Is Nick Foles a franchise quarterback? Donovan McNabb doesn't think so, at least not yet. Will the defense continue its improvement under Billy Davis.
And most importantly, we'll post our predictions for the Birds 2014 season. Here's a hint. I have them going 10-6, winning the NFC East, and winning a playoff game. I do not expect them to get to the Super Bowl.
Have an Iggles question you'd like to put to our panel. Email it to me at editor@delcotimes.com. Then tune in tonight at 7 and take part in our live chat. Or better yet come out to Jimmy Mac's and join us!
Altogether now: E-A-G-L-E-S!
