I get the calls just about every week.
We call them fish stories. Literally.
"You have to see the fish my dad caught this weekend," some proud wife, son or daughter will breathlessly tell me. Usually I ask them to send me a photo. I am almost always underwhelmed.
Not this time.
Check out the monster reeled in by David Walker of Upper Chichester.
That folks, is a record-setting catch, a 17-pound sheepshead snagged in the Delaware Bay on Sept. 29 during the Delaware Sport Fishing Tournament.
The giant fish is 28 inches long.
Kind of makes the sunnies I used to pull out of the Octoraro Reservoir pale in comparison.
The catch was confirmed by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
Nice work, David.
