Upper Darby Police have increased their presence in the area around Upper Darby High School again this morning after receiving unspecified threats.
On their Twitter account, @UDPolice, officials indicated that the threats are unsubstantiated, but that all such issues are taken seriously.
The high school is open as usual this morning.
Police beefed up their presence earlier this week after a couple of violent incidents last week, including a fight a few blocks from the school that ended in a stabbing.
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood visited the school Monday and talked to students, stressing a message of safety and zero tolerance.
"Our concern is that those kids who want to learn have a safe place to learn," Chitwood said. Those who want to be gangsters will have to deal with the police."
Upper Darby Schools Superintendent Richard Dunlap stressed that "the negative actions of a few do not overshadow the thousands of good things occurring daily at Upper Darby High School by great kids and supportive parents."
