Keeping a Christmas tradition

Every year since I assumed the editorship of the Daily Times in 1999, I have presented a Christmas column.

I wrote it as a salute to my mother, whose sense of how to celebrate the holiday is deeply ingrained in her son.

I am always amazed at the reaction it gets each year. I actually have people calling in the weeks leading up to Christmas with people wondering when it is going to appear.

I think my mom's sense of the holiday strikes a chord with many families, at least I hope so.
