Thank God for the Eagles.
Where would the Philly Phaithful be without them?
The Sixers will be trying to avoid further ignominy tonight in Minnesota against the Timberwolves. Should they lose, in the process dropping their 18th consecutive game to start the season, they will tie the all-time NBA mark set back in 2009-10 by the New Jersey Nets.
The Flyers lost their fifth straight as they kicked off a West Coast trip in San Jose against the Sharks. The Flyers actually played well, dominating the first period and taking a 1-0 lead. But the Sharks pulled even and the game appeared headed to overtime tied at 1-1 when San Jose put one behind Flyers goalie Steve Mason after he collided with a teammate with just 11.5 seconds left on the clock.
Yeah, it's been that kind of year so far for the orange and black.
The Flyers have now lost eight straight road games, and are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games. Not good.
True, the Eagles almost always dominate the conversation in this town.
This year it's with good reason.
So let's kill those stories about the University of Florida wooing Chip Kelly to return to the college ranks to lead their program.
I don't think the Philly Phaithful could handle one more depressing note this winter.
