I suppose things could be more dismal for Philly sports fans.
I'm just not sure how.
Actually, I guess we could be Green Bay fans. Yeah, that might be worse. It got me to thinking, would you rather miss the playoffs all together, as Chip Kelly and the Birds just did, or face the agony of coughing up what certainly appeared to be a sure thing trip to the Super Bowl, as the Packers managed to do?
In the meantime, the Flyers got walloped yesterday afternoon by the Islanders. They continue to be going nowhere fast.
We already know the Sixers are actually trying to lose. They did that again yesterday, getting blown out by the Wizards in D.C.
One thing we did not expect was for Villanova to join the bandwagon.
Just a few hours after being elevated to No. 4 in the country in the AP poll, the Wildcats came up flat vs. Georgetown. They were never in the game as they got drubbed, 78-58.
The Phillies? They report to Clearwater exactly one month from today. But they're still considering dealing ace left-hander Cole Hamels.
What's a local sports fan to do?
Call me when it's time for The Masters.
