The rebirth of Marcus Hook continues.
County Council paid a visit to the Sunoco Logistics site in the Hook to announce a new study to target the economic possibilities along with Delaware River waterfront.
The borough took a huge hit when Sunoco decided to get out of the oil refining business. When a buyer for the iconic plant could not be found, the sprawling site was shuttered.
Now it is looking to rise again, with its future likely tied to Sunoco Logistics' push to utilize the site as a storage and transfer facility tied to products coming from the state's Marcellus Shale region.
Our newest staff writer, Kristina Scala, has all the details here.
And she notes that one hurdle that will have to be overcome is opposition to a key pumping station that Sunoco Logistics needs that is being proposed for a residential neighborhood in West Goshen, out in Chester County.
