Boom time in the Hook

Yesterday on our editorial page, we heralded the potential for a rebirth in Marcus Hook tied to materials coming from the state's Marcellus Shale boom.

We're not alone.

Later on Thursday, an economic impact study concluded that the Mariner East projects proposed by Sunoco Logistics could mean as much as $4.2 billion for Pennsylvania, and produce 400 jobs.

And Marcus Hook will be right in the middle of it. You can get all the details from business writer Kathleen Carey here.

That's huge news for a town that was hit hard when Sunoco decided to shutter its iconic refinery in the borough.

The idea is that a lot of natural gas materials will make their way via pipelines to Marcus Hook.

Some people are talking about Marcus Hook and the Delaware County riverfront being the "energy hub" of the Northeast.

Just call it the Houston of Delco.
