We returned to our home away from home at the Communications Department at Widener University in Chester last night for a very special evening on 'Live From the Newsroom.'
It was our final show of the year at Widener, with whom we have partnered the past two years. We visit the campus once a month and utilize the state-of-the-art TV studio in Freedom Hall to tape our show.
We owe a special debt of gratitude to Widener public relations boss Dan Hanson for all his help with the show, and in particular to Professor Tim Scepansky and his students for putting on a first-class show.
But last night was even more special because of our guest.
We were honored to spend a half-hour with Widener President Dr. Jim Harris. We talked about his 13-year tenure at the school and the huge change that has taken place under his tutelage. Dr. Harris will depart the Chester campus this summer to accept a similar post at the University of San Diego.
Harris stressed again and again the mission of the school, that he wanted it - and its students - to become an integral part of the Chester community.
He leaves a huge legacy in Chester, indelibly linking the school with the city it calls home.
He will be greatly missed.
If you missed the show, you can catch the replay here.
