A lot of people in Chester have gotten used to the random gun violence that has plagued their neighborhoods.
Some tell of being literally prisoners in their own homes, afraid to venture outside because of the bullets that are a constant scourge on their lives.
Now at least one street is facing a new threat.
Amazingly, one block on Bickley Place has now seen a third fire in just four days. Flames eruped again on the 400 block of Bickley Place just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
That comes on the heels of two fires over the weekend, Saturday and again early Monday morning.
The Monday fire chased 19 people from their homes.
Mayor John Linder was on Bickley Place and sensed the frustration in the residents there, who now fear someone is trying to burn down their block.
No determination has yet been made in the series of fires. Luckily, so far no one has been injured.
But lives have been disrupted. And a sense of unease has descended on the block.
Linder is now taking action, ordering a 24-hour police presence.
