Rollins joins the hit parade vs. Phils

All it took to turn around Jimmy Rollins' fortunes was the sight of some old pals.

In other words, the Phillies horrendous season continued last night as they met up with their old shortstop.

Rollins has not exactly been setting the world on fire since arriving in Los Angeles. His battering average has been hovering around the dreaded Mendoza line much of the season.

Apparently all it took to shake him out of his doldrums was the arrival of the Phillies.

Rollins had two hits - including the go-ahead single - in a game that lasted more four hours, and 13 minutes.

An eternity, which is kind of fitting for this miserable summer for the Phils.

Before the game, asked about facing his old team for the first time, Rollins preferred to look ahead, not back.

"I didn't leave anything behind," Rollins said. "I had to leave all that in the past and be able to move forward and accept who ai am as being a Dodger. This is where I am today."

Where he was before the Phils showed up was having a decidedly un-Jimmy Rollins like season.

I guess the sight of Sean O'Sullivan out there opposing him on the mound fixed that. O'Sullivan was outrighted to Allentown after the game, in which he allowed 7 runs on 8 hits in five and a third innings. And the beat goes on for the Phils.
